This refers to the obligatory amount of charity (2.5%) that each able Muslim must give.
This can be paid any time of the year and should be related to your individual zakat anniversary date (ZAD).
The ZAD is the date you became eligible for Zakat and therefore on the yearly anniversary of this date Zakat is due. However, people often keep Ramadan as their Zakat anniversary for the immense blessings awarded in that month and easier to remember.
Either way we can distribute the amount for you to the poor and needy worldwide.
WFIA management committee decides the most appropriate charity(ies) to donate to. The decision is transparent and recorded for public knowledge. Our criteria for selecting a charity is covered in our Donation Policy and takes in to account areas such as, the charity’s history, experience, resources, deliverables etc.
We aim for 100% Zakat policy and factor that in to selecting a charity. We may also on some occasions deliver funds directly ourselves if feasible, subject to our criteria and produces better value.
