Lockdown3 Restrictions at Garden of Peace Cemetry

Garden of Peace (GOP) cemetery has sent this letter to us and other organisations in neighbouring boroughs.

Due to an increase Covid-19 deaths, which resulted in the third national lockdown, the GOP cemetery has:

(a) restricted visiting times to 8-10am at the Five Oaks site and

(b) reduced the number of people to a maximum of 10 for burials to allow more burials to take place each day.

Please adhere to these guidelines strictly. See letter for full details.

We also urge you to stay home during this surge in the pandemic and only go out if absolutely necessary taking all precautions.

Please do your bit to keep yourself, your household and your community safe.

May Allah سبحانه و تعالى protect everyone. امین

At the height of the first national lockdown, we published this post in May 2020: Should I Go to a Burial at the Cemetery? when GOP tightened restriction at that time. This post is still extremely relevant, if not more so, in Lockdown 3 as it was in Lockdown 1.

If you have had a bereavement, we ask Allah سبحانه و تعالى to forgive your loved one and to grant them a place in Jannat Al Firdous. May Allah سبحانه و تعالى make it easy for you & your family and lift this pandemic quickly. Ameen.

Please share this with family and friends so they can understand why there are limits to numbers, and how to help families during a bereavement.

If you are unsure about anything regarding funerals/burials, please speak to your local undertaker or cemetery where-ever you are.

Specifically for WFIA funerals/burials, please speak to Haji Nazir (contact details).
