We extend our heartfelt thanks and deep respect to the police and all the agencies involved in last night’s operation to counter the threat of far-right protests in Walthamstow.

To all the officers and support teams on the front line, thank you. We know you risk your lives every day, but last night the danger was real. Yet, you showed incredible bravery by putting the safety of the community above your own. For that, we are eternally grateful.

We also want to thank our local leaders, including MPs, councillors, council officials, multi-faith organisations, mosque leaders, and everyone else who quickly came together and have worked closely over the past few days to create a comprehensive protection plan.

A special thank you to our amazing local community in Walthamstow, Waltham Forest, and our neighbouring boroughs. Your support has been nothing short of spectacular. Time and again, you’ve stood up for our beautifully diverse community, even putting your own safety at risk to make it clear that hate has no place here or anywhere in the country. We are forever grateful for your selfless actions.

We also thank everyone, especially our neighbours, who reached out with messages of support, stood guard outside the mosque with us, or left small gifts or snacks. Your kindness has touched us deeply during this challenging time.

We hope the situation remains calm going forward, but aware this may not be the end of the road. We call on our community to remain peaceful, strong, united and respectful of the police.
